Alastair Borthwick’s Career

Alastair Borthwick was born on February 1913 in Rutherglen, Scotland but was brought up in Troon. He left high school when he was 16 to begin training as a journalist at Glasgow Evening Herald where he wrote telephone copies from correspondents. When the war was over, Alastair Borthwick wrote the second book Sans Peur which later got published as Battalion in 1994. The book talked about what his role was during the second half of the war. The book was written from a junior officer and one who was on the frontline during the fight.
